Job Description
We are seeking a Network Engineer II to join our team and play a critical role in managing and maintaining client networks, security, and power infrastructure. This role will primarily focus on Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiClient, FortiEDR, FortiToken, and more. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for managing and maintaining Cisco and Meraki networking devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
This role also includes the management, maintenance, and monitoring of APC UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems, ensuring that clients' network infrastructures remain resilient and protected from power disruptions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for networking, cybersecurity, and power management solutions to deliver high-quality services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Network Management & Security: Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot Fortinet, Cisco, and Meraki network infrastructure for multiple clients.
Network Assessments & Site Surveys: Conduct on-site surveys to evaluate network health, identify weak points, and recommend upgrades for outdated or end-of-life equipment.
Security Implementation: Enhance network security by deploying Fortinet security solutions, including endpoint protection, multi-factor authentication (FortiToken), and advanced threat detection (FortiEDR).
Power Management: Manage, maintain, and monitor APC UPS systems to ensure continuous network uptime, proper battery health, and proactive failure prevention.
Client Support & Optimization: Provide technical support, monitoring, and performance tuning to ensure reliability and security of client networks.
Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with internal teams, clients, and vendors to design, implement, and maintain secure and resilient network environments. Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, security policies, and power management systems.
Project Implementation: Assist with network upgrades, migrations, power backup implementations, and expansions to improve overall security posture and efficiency.
Day-to-day activities
Troubleshooting network issues across Fortinet, Cisco, and Meraki devices.
Conducting on-site and remote network health assessments.
Deploying new security policies and configurations to protect client environments.
Monitoring and maintaining APC UPS systems to prevent downtime due to power failures.
Working with clients to identify network inefficiencies, security vulnerabilities, and power risks.
Staying up to date on emerging threats, new networking technologies, and power backup solutions.
Documenting network changes, security policies, and power infrastructure details for future reference.
Required Experience/Skills
Passion for network security, troubleshooting, and optimizing IT infrastructures.
Minimum 2 years’ Experience with Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiEDR, FortiToken, etc.), Cisco networking devices, and Meraki solutions.
Experience with APC UPS systems, including monitoring battery health and managing power continuity solutions.
Ability to conduct site surveys, risk assessments, and provide strategic security and power recommendations.
Ability to conduct a wireless site survey using Ekahau, create reports, and provide best practices for wireless layout, security, and performance.
Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-first mindset.
Eagerness to stay updated on cybersecurity trends, network best practices, and power management innovations.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with a ticketing system and RMM such as NinjaOne.
Experience with Windows AD, DNS, DHCP, CS, and NTP.
Experience with Veeam backup and recovery tool.
Experience with setting up and deploying Dell, HPE, and SuperMicro servers and storage.
Experience with Wireshark or other packet capture tools.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Wasabi.
Fortinet Certifications – FCF, FCA, FCP, etc.
Cisco Certifications – CCNA, CCNP, etc.
Education
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field or bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field.
